I loved this little place. Had a few dishes and the food comes quick service is friendly and the ingredients are fresh. Just a small fun little Chinese place you can enjoy a meal at.

Cashew nut chicken was superb, Cody waited on us and was nice and quick. Very cozy and cost effective restaurant. Portions are large.

We ordered takeout on Christmas Eve. It was delicious like, I can't explain how good the egg flower soup & crab puffs were. The service was great (people that complain about wait times obviously don't understand what fresh cooked food is) super nice and friendly people, focused and again delicious food. The restaurant itself is beautiful too.

My family and I have been coming here for YEARS. The food (both taste and portion size), pricing, and staff service STILL holds up!! I mean a $15 combo plate will leave you feeling stuffed, satisfied, and well worth the money. I don't even live in St Johns anymore but I commute here for work and Kung Food is still my go-to spot for Chinese American food. With all the changes in the neighborhood, I'm just so happy to see KF still up and running. Please continue to support this local family business! They deserve to stay here and keep serving the North Portland community. (the only reason it's not a 5/5 star is because the place is quite small. When it gets busy and the dining area is full there could be a bit of a wait)

Good food. Decent service. The ambiance was ok. Feels like a lot of people just order take out.

I was at an open house here in St. John's with a friend, who wanted to explore the local gluten free restaurants. She picked Kung Food. From the photos on Yelp photos, it appeared that they needed some new photos. The exterior is very unassuming, which is characteristic of St. John's. Their building is on the corner of N. Lombard & N Oswego Ave, very easy to get to by foot and by car. The interior is clean, medium small, with booths along 2 walls of windows. There are finished picnic style tables on N Lombard for outside dining. Clearly, Kung Food has classic Chinese American country cuisine, which is a style which evolved to serve the local communities tastes, using American regional produce. Kung Food has has a diverse menu of Cantonese American, Szechuan, Thai, and Bubble Teas. There are selections of both classic Cantonese American and fried foods, which are very popular here. We had the Salt Pepper Tofu, which was lightly fried with Garlic and Sichuan chili peppers. You can let them know how spicy you want yours. We ordered the default, which was just spicy enough for most people. This Salt Pepper Tofu is AMAZING!!! It reminds me of Popcorn Shrimp for Vegans. The flavor is so good, it's hard to stop eating it. To balance our meal, we ordered Pea Pod Chicken. You can ask which veggies are in the entree you select, so you can ask to leave out anything you might not want. Since this is classic Chinese American, there's no Bok Choy or other Chinese veggies on the menu. Back to the Pea Pod Chicken... the chicken is so melt in your mouth tender, I had to give them 5 Stars!!! The veggies were cooked to perfection also. The sauce/glaze was also good, although I was expecting the white glaze, most people in St. John's must prefer the classic glaze which has more flavor. Next time I will have to ask them for the White sauce/glaze. I loved their trendy black restaurant ware (see my photos). The black makes my food photos really pop. We arrived at 2pm, post lunch time. Only one other set of people came in after us for dine-in. It was interesting to see the steady stream of people come for their Take-out orders. Kung Food is clearly popular with the locals. Chines American food is comfort food for many people. It is the classic go to take-out food. I highly recommend Kung Food.
